Toni Murphy is the newly appointed EVP and Chief Operating Officer with Astound Broadband. Toni has over 20 years of experience in the cable and telecommunications industry. She has held various leadership positions at Comcast, including CMO and SVP, Sales and Marketing in the Atlanta-based Central Division, and Senior Vice President/General Manager for the Keystone Region in Pittsburgh, PA. Toni's responsibilities at Comcast included overseeing teams of over 2,000 employees and managing multi-billion-dollar growth segments' operational, strategic, and financial performance. Her diverse career at Comcast covered sales and marketing, customer experience, operations, network construction and design, and corporate finance, spanning consumer and business segments.
Before her current role, Toni was the Vice President of Comcast Business, focusing on small business and mid-market enterprise fiber connectivity. She joined the Keystone Region in 2015 as the Project Management Office and Customer Experience Vice President. She led the organization through the transformational deployment of the Net Promoter System and the rollout of Netflix on the X1 platform.
Toni's career at Comcast is a testament to her adaptability and versatility. She has successfully navigated diverse roles, including senior director of Market Development for Comcast Business in the California Region and senior director of Business Support and analytics for the Greater Chicago Region. Her journey with Comcast began in 2008 as Manager of Financial and Strategic Planning at Comcast Corporate in Philadelphia, showcasing her ability to thrive in different roles and regions.
Throughout her career, Toni has achieved several remarkable 'firsts.' She was the first person to lead the Comcast Cable division's residential and commercial growth segments, the first African American female and millennial to own a P&L within the Comcast Business division and one of the first millennials to be promoted to Vice President across the enterprise. These milestones underscore her pioneering spirit and commitment to breaking barriers in the industry, inspiring others to follow in her footsteps.
Toni began her professional journey as an analyst at UBS Investment Bank in New York City, specializing in the cable/satellite, broadcasting, and outdoor advertising sectors. Later, she pursued a career in private equity in Los Angeles with Glendon Partners, the operational arm of The Gores Group, LLC.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in French and Economics from Princeton University. Beyond her professional achievements, Toni is actively involved in non-profit work and serves on the Strong Women Strong Girls and RedChairPGH board. She has also received numerous industry awards, including being recognized as a Woman of Influence by the Pittsburgh Business Times and the ATHENA Young Professional Award.
